We, the VOICE partnership, are committed to protecting the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, protect, and share your information on our website (https://ethicaljournalism.eu) and Moodle platform (https://training.ethicaljournalism.eu/). Your data will not be shared with third parties.

Authorisation
By registering to the VOICE Project Platform, you authorise the VOICE partnership to process your data that you used to fill in the registration form, other forms, or to submit content. The VOICE partnership confirms compliance with the provisions of the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (GDPR).
When you register on our platform, you step in an agreement with the VOICE partnership to use the services provided on VOICE Project Platform in accordance with the Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy.
Accessibility
We are committed to making our platform accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We strive to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. If you have any difficulty accessing our platform, please contact us.
Data controller
Access to the collected data will be managed by the Ofensiva Tinerilor in the person of the DPO, ofensivainfo@gmail.com.
This data controller is responsible for the processing of the personal data of users of the VOICE Project Platform and informs you that this data will be processed in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of 27 April (GDPR).
You have the right to amend, correct, or cancel your personal details held by us. Hence it’s also possible to ask for deletion of your personal data from the VOICE Project Platform’s management system at any time by sending a request to the data controller.
Personal Data We Collect and Use
We collect and process only personal data that is strictly necessary to enable you to use the available services or that you have decided to share with us, in any case in line with applicable law.
Your profile contains minimum data by default. It is at your own free will and consent to make some data about you public in your profile, such as an email address.
If content submitted by you is published or if you create a comment on the VOICE Project Platform, any visitor of the platform will see you as the author of the content or comment.
In the case you gave us consent to collect and process your data, you can equally withdraw that consent at any time.
We use your personal data for the following purposes, including legitimate interests:
- To provide and maintain our platform.
- To monitor and analyse the usage of our platform.
- To manage your profile.
- To keep available all the content and comments you create on the platform.
- To communicate with you.
- To personalise your experience on our platform.
- To improve our platform and services.
- To report to public authorities.
When you register on our Moodle platform, we may collect the following information:
- Username: This is a pseudonym used to identify you on our platform.
- Email Address: We use this to communicate with you about your account and any updates or changes on our platform.
- User-Generated Content: This includes any posts, comments, or other content you create on our platform.
There are no third parties involved in the data processing activities on the VOICE Project Platform. The European Commission will be provided only with statistical data (anonymized data) on the users’ activity, which does not constitute personal data, for the purposes of reporting by the VOICE partnership to the European Commission (which is one of the obligations under the grant agreement).
In the event of a legal dispute, the personal data is also processed for the purposes of the legitimate interests of the VOICE partnership.
Why and how long we store your data
We store your personal data only for as long as necessary to provide you with our services and as described in our Privacy Policy. However, we may also be required to store personal or anonymised data to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements.
We store your personal data as long as you have a registered account. Should the user’s account be deleted, all personal data is immediately erased or anonymised.
For the purpose of reporting to the European Commission, we anonymise the personal data and may process them within 5 years after the VOICE project ends.
For statistical purposes in general, we anonymise the personal data and may use this information indefinitely.
Here’s a basic outline of our data storage policy:
- Account Closure: If you choose to close your account, we will deactivate your account and remove the personal data associated with your account from view. We will also promptly disconnect any connection we have established to your third-party account. We may retain some of your personal data as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, support business operations, and continue to develop and improve our services.
- User-Generated Content: Upon deactivation of your account, all of your user-generated content (e.g. blog posts, comments) will be de-identified and disassociated from your account. This content may remain on our platform indefinitely.
- Marketing Preferences: If you have chosen to receive marketing emails from us, we retain information about your marketing preferences unless you specifically ask us to delete such information.
- Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We retain information derived from cookies and other tracking technologies for a reasonable period of time from the date such information was created. Please refer to our Cookies Policy .
Your rights as a data subject
You have certain data protection rights. We aim to take reasonable steps to allow you to correct, amend, delete, or limit the use of your Personal Data.
- You can access, update, or request deletion of your Personal Data directly within your account settings section.
- You have the right to have your information rectified if that information is inaccurate or incomplete.
- You have the right to object to our processing of your Personal Data.
- You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal information.
- You have the right to be provided with a copy of the information we have on you in a structured, machine-readable, and commonly used format.
- You also have the right to withdraw your consent at any time where we relied on your consent to process your personal information.
You can exercise any of the rights listed above, by sending a message to the Data Controller.
You have the right to submit a complaint before your national data protection authority, if you deem that your data is processed in an unlawful way.
Data Breaches
In the event of a data breach, we will notify you and the relevant authorities within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach.
Children’s Privacy
Our platform is not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
The present Privacy Policy is adopted by all members of the VOICE partnership and it may be updated from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on the VOICE Project Platform and updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document.

The VOICE Project Platform is hosted on a VPS property of Fundación Docete Omnes (Spain) in an EU data centre.
